Late bloomer in this sport. As I progress in life, my ambitions only go up, and I participate in more and more endurance events. Initially just riding my bike to work, then starting century rides, then century rides with a lot of hills. Now adding running and finally swimming. I started triathlons some 5 years ago with an Olympic distance event, which I barely finished. Last year I participated in my first ever full IM, a present to myself for my 50th birthday. Finishing is all I want, of course, not being the last one would also be nice.
Triathlons, endurance in general, fit my lifestyle. I want to keep my fitness up, even if I get older. I want to keep my weight down, even if it gets harder. Working towards a goal with patience and persistence, one step at a time. Following a data driven method is a training philosophy I can believe in. Life gets frequently in the way, but next week I will try again, and then I will get better.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do
