I came to triathlon as many others do, to challenge and push myself as well as to break up the monotony of a single sport.

I started exercising, specifically running in 1999 as a diversion in my attempt to quit my two pack a day habit. After completing my first marathon the same year I was looking for something different and I was introduced to cycling. After 10 years of road racing, time trialing, track and mountain biking I was burnt out and needing something new to keep me motivated.

I had always heard of Ironman and like so many others was inspired by the iconic images of hard fought wins and finishes burned my memory. In 2009 Ironman announced it would be coming to Texas and that would be the beginning of my continued journey in triathlon. I have since raced a hand full of sprint triathlons along with five 70.3 including a world championship event and seven 140.6 races, I guess you could say I’m hooked.

The mind can make the body do anything!
