ABOUT KURT MADDEN

Coach Madden was raised in San Diego, CA. He was introduced to the sport of triathlon in the late 1970’s through his participation in Swim-Run-Swim events. Madden raced in triathlons throughout the world from 1980 – 1985. From 1985 to the early 2000s, Kurt focused on his responsibilities as a father while staying active in various running events, including 48 hour runs! Returning to triathlons in the 2000s, Madden remained a top competitor. In 2016, Kurt completed the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, 9th overall, and as the first American. He has since returned to Kona in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Find Kurt’s full bio here.
